Any roofing project can be a major task, even if it’s a relatively “minor” task like a repair. Even flashing replacement or plugging holes can take the better part of daylight, Therefore, if you’re replacing your roof, it’s a good idea to make sure you can make the task as seamless and as smooth as possible. The last thing you want is for the project to take more time than it should.
Fortunately, you can do a few things to make it as easy as possible for both you and the contractor.
Know Your Material
Assuming you’ve already found and hired your roof installer, the next most important thing on your list is to choose which material you want for your roof and commit to it. This mostly applies to total roof replacement and not repair, but some “repairs” involve re-shingling the roof so it’s still worthwhile to look at shingle upgrades if you can.
Try to find a material that makes sense for your climate and your neighborhood. Obviously, if you’re in the path of frequent storms, it doesn’t make sense to use roofing materials that can be easily blown away or damaged.
Set a Budget
You now need to create a budget. It’s so easy to go overboard when replacing your roof as some contractors may offer add-ons that weren’t on the job estimate. Note that we said “some”- Apex Roofing & Restoration doesn’t do that as we stick to what we’ve agreed upon, and, even if there were some changes or additions, that would come from you, not from us.
A budget is only as good as your willpower to stick to it. Scope (and budget) creep is real; don’t fall for it.
